The EmployMentor project was a Microsoft Global Finance Community Impact initiative implemented in Kenya in partnership with The African Centre for Women, Information and Communications Technology (ACWICT).  The goal of the project was to enable 150 young women graduates/near graduates of Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Technology and Software Engineering from public/private universities in Kenya to succeed in job placements and entrepreneurship endeavours via Skype 1:1 mentorship, a week-long face to face training dubbed “the EmployMentor week” coupled with post training job placement support.

The one-week long project attracted a total of 376 young women from 26 public/private universities in Kenya. A few applications were received from universities within Eastern Africa region, India and the United Kingdom. Only 150 applicants from Kenyan universities were selected to join the program. The EmployMentor Week was implemented at Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya.

Before the EmployMentor workshop at K.U, I thought I knew it all. I could not stand another person having a separate opinion from me despite having the wrong format for my C.V and not being able to express myself well. These are the seeds of change and hope that you planted in my life. The sessions were life changing. Saying "Thank you" to you and ACWICT may not fully express my gratitude. Thank you, Thank you and Thank you always. May God continuously bless each one of you. I can confidently say that I am now a better person. I am working on my resume and above all, I can understand and work better with people of different opinions from mine to come up with the best solution.
