Horn of Africa Regional Women’s Knowledge Network

HAWKNet, an initiative of the African Centre for Women, Information and Communications Technology (ACWICT) is a one stop on-line forum for women in the East and Horn of Africa region to discover, exchange, take part in debates, express themselves on key issues affecting them such as conflict, peace building processes, violence against women, food insecurity, HIV/AIDS and other health related issues, poverty and education within the framework of women’s human rights.

HAWKNet provides active virtual workspaces for regional / sub-regional activities including hosting and managing online discussions as well as an on-line repository of knowledge / information on activities in the sub-region.

HAWKNet has just received funding from the United Nations Development for Women (UNIFEM) to support development of a regional website and virtual market place for women / women’s organizations products and services including an on-line database of African women experts in various fields.

HAWKNet is also currently hosting a global online discussion forum for women supported by UNIFEM and YWCA.
